Changes in Nuclear Plant Emergency Planning Zone

BLAIR – 44 years of listening to test sirens in the Emergency Planning zone around the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant –  coming to an end.  Omaha Public Power District officials, in the process of decommissioning the nuclear station, says the procedure has been scaled back and over the course of the next year, the sirens will be dismantled.  The decommissioning process can take up to 60 years.
