BLAIR – A new excavator is going out for bid for the Washington County Highway Department. That approved by the board of supervisors in this afternoon’s meeting. Also approved – a bid for a reconstruction project on county road 34. JEO Consulting’s Jon Mooberry says the lowest bid was $499,755 received from Sibbernson Construction/Excavating and recommended to the board to accept that bid. Mooberry adds that Sibbernson Excavating will close off county road 34 for part of that construction, slated for completion in the spring. Also approved by the board of supervisors – a new heat pump for the Register of Deeds office – costing a little over 14 thousand dollars. Jesse Gonzalez with the county’s Building Maintenance department says many of the county’s boiler systems are aging and could need replacement in the next few years.
