New Security Protocol in Place for Blair Schools

BLAIR – School starts next Monday for Blair Students.  The district, in accordance with Nebraska Department of Education guidelines has instituted a uniform training for emergency situations across the state.  Blair’s new superintendent, Dr. Randy Gilson says teachers are being trained in the new protocols, which include Lock Down – where staff and students go to classrooms (in the event of a shooter, for example) lock the door and find areas where they are not visible.  Lock In – in the event of an outdoor danger where staff and students go into the building and lock in.  And a “Shelter in Place” scenario.  Teachers are undergoing training this week, students will be trained in the new standard protocols next week.  New security cameras and locking interior doors were also installed over the summer, funded by the most recent school bond issue.
