No Input from Washington County Residents during Co. Budget Hearing

BLAIR – A public hearing for a county budget of a little over ten million dollars last night drew only one member of the public and no comments at the Washington County court house. Consultant Rick Ortmeier, who with County Clerk Merry Truhlsen assemble the annual budget, comments that this year’s budget is similar to last year’s, with one variable – the county jail.  Ortmeier says no firm costs have been discussed.  The project is still in the design phase.  He says that the budget discussed right now is “preliminary” and that adjustments to it can be expected as the Jail Committee gets the design firmed up. The budget total is ten million 236 thousand dollars.  The county’s budget will be voted on next Tuesday during the regular Washington County Board of Supervisor’s meeting.
