BLAIR – The Blair Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy began last night. One of the speakers, area Pastor Mark Degner, is also part of the Blair Police Chaplain program. He told those attending that class that it’s important to understand the environment police officers deal with in their every day work – requires hyper-vigilance that sometimes is difficult to shut off during non-work hours, and that families of officers are impacted by their loved ones work. He says police officers face a stressful environment and those officer need an understanding and compassionate advocate. The citizens police academy is an eight week program that helps community members understand the workings of the police department. You can find out more online at blairpolice.org.
