UPDATE: Shooting Victim Expected to Survive, Suspect Still at Large

NORFOLK – Norfolk Police are continuing to search for a suspect they say shot a 19-year old Norfolk man on Saturday.

Norfolk Police Capt. Don Miller says Alejandro Cuellar-Martinez of Norfolk was shot Saturday evening.

Capt. Miller says police were initially called to the corner of 12th and Michigan Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Saturday for a call of four men acting suspicious. Police received another call soon after that the group was throwing fireworks at each other.

But what the caller thought was fireworks was actually gunfire.

Cuellar-Martinez was taken to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk and is expected to survive. Capt. Miller says the others involved fled the scene on foot. The suspect is still at large.
