BLAIR – With children out and about trick or treating this evening, Blair Police Lieutenant Aaron Barrow has some recommendations to keep your children safe. First, he recommends driving carefully and slowly through residential areas, saying that it is not uncommon for children to cross in the middle of the block or not look both ways before crossing, he suggests driving slower than usual to allow more reaction time. Additionally, he recommends dressing your children in costumes that do not block vision, and make the kids more visible to motorists. Adding reflective tape to costumes and goodie bags is helpful, and even more helpful is use of glow sticks and flashlights to make those trick or treaters more visible. Lt. Barrow says you can check the Blair Police Department’s facebook page for more recommendations to keep your children safe during trick or treating.
