Collegiate Soccer Continues to Championships: Creighton, UNO

CU Men

The No. 14 Creighton men’s soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime to Georgetown during the regular-season finale on Wednesday night at Morrison Stadium.

The Bluejays fell to 11-4-2 overall and finished 7-1-1 during BIG EAST play, while the Hoyas improved to 10-4-3 overall and earned a 6-2-1 mark in league play.

The BIG EAST regular-season champion Bluejays will continue their season on Nov. 7 at Morrison Stadium for a BIG EAST Championship semifinal match against Marquette or Xavier at 7 p.m. Fourth-seeded Marquette hosts fifth-seeded Xavier on Saturday night at 7 p.m. during a first round match.

UNO Women

Three Omaha women’s soccer players earned 2018 all-league recognition from the Summit League; the conference office announced Wednesday night.

Senior Susie Dineen earned a spot on the All-Summit League Second Team, and Ina Gudjonsdottir and Margaret Lavigne garnered Summit League All-Freshman accolades.

Omaha opens the 2018 Summit League Women’s Soccer Championship this Thursday, Nov. 1.  The fourth-seeded Mavericks take on top-seeded South Dakota State at 3 p.m. at Fishback Soccer Park in Brookings, S.D.
