In high school swimming last night, Columbus defeated the Fremont boys, 88-77. In girls action, Columbus defeated Fremont 67-47. On the boys side the medley relay started it off with the first win of the night and a state secondary qualifying time. The foursome of Mack Prince, JJ Pelikan, Colton Juhl, and Dylan Bobbett gave the team their first state mark of the season. These boys also came within less than 3 seconds of the FHS school record set back in 1992.
Colton Juhl brought the next secondary state cut for the boys in the 50 free by placing second, which then Pelikan followed adding another state secondary cut and 2nd place in the 100 fly.
Juhl also added to the wins and state cuts adding a secondary first place finish in the 100 free.
Emma Walz followed with a win state secondary cut and new school record in the 200 IM. Walz beat Lauren Gifford’s school record set last season by .01.
Walz also added a win in the 100 free tonight with a state automatic qualifying time. This is the first automatic time for the tigers this season.
Lauren Gifford also added another 1st place finish with a state secondary cut in the 100 breaststroke.
