Huskers Golf in 10th at Bayou City, Mav’s in 11th at Bill Ross

The Nebraska men’s golf team currently sits in 10th place with a combined score of 590 after the first two rounds of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Golfcrest Country Club. Action at the par-72, 7,254-yard course will continue Tuesday with the final round.

Arkansas State leads the field of teams with a combined score of 569, followed by Lipscomb in second (570), Sam Houston State in third (574), UTSA in fourth (575), and Houston in fifth (576).

Jace Guthmiller leads the Huskers with a score of 142 and is currently tied for ninth overall. Jackson Wendling golfed for a score of 147 and is tied for 33rd.

Nebraska will begin the third and final round of the invitational on Tuesday.

The Omaha men’s golf team is eleventh following the opening two rounds of the Bill Ross Intercollegiate at UMKC.

The Mavericks shot team scores of 300 and 303 for a 36-hole total of 603 at the Milburn Country Club.  Grand Canyon leads the event with a score of 572, two strokes ahead of host UMKC.  South Dakota is third at 577.

David Huxham shot an even-par round of 72 to open the tournament and followed with a score of 74 in the afternoon for a total of 146.  He leads the Mavericks and is tied for 13th overall.

The final round begins at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
