The Omaha women’s tennis team has been picked third in the 2018 Summit League Preseason Poll, the conference office announced Wednesday. The poll was determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Denver received five out of six first-place votes for a total of 25 points. South Dakota finished second with one first-place vote and 19 points, just ahead of Omaha in third place with 16 points. Oral Roberts (15), Western Illinois (nine) and South Dakota State (sixth) rounded out the poll.
The Mavericks return four letterwinners from their 2017 squad, including a three-time All-Summit selection in senior Michelle Lo, who was named a 2018 Summit League Player to Watch. Omaha opens the spring season Friday, Jan. 19, hosting Milwaukee at Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
