Warriors Five Game Winning Streak Snapped by No. 10 Red Raiders

ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Midland University had their season-high five game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon as they fell to No. 10 Northwestern College, 86-76. The Warriors were plagues by poor shooting from behind the arc most of the game, going 0-8 in the first half and 3-21 for the game. Their record falls to 16-13 (6-11 GPAC) while the Red Raiders improve to 22-4 (12-4 GPAC).

It was a back and forth game early on as the two teams traded buckets. Midland trailed by just three, 10-7 with 14:49 to go in the opening half, before Northwestern went on a 19-6 run over the next 7:10 to take a 29-13 lead. The Warriors would go on a short run to pull within ten before half, but let the lead slip back to 44-31 at the break.

In the second half, Midland did all they could to get back in the game but each time they cut into the lead Northwestern would have an answer. The Warriors got as close as six points with 4:16 remaining but the Raiders fought them off one last time for the 11 point win.

Isaiah Workman led the team in scoring with 21 points off the bench. He hit 8-14 from the floor and converted on 5-7 from the foul line. Ryan Williams was the only other Midland player in double-digits with 16. He added 13 rebounds to lead the team for his fifth double-double of the season.

Nathan Wedel and Derek Buysse each scored a game-high 24 points for the Red Raiders. Riley Francis chipped in 18 points for Northwestern.

Next up for Midland is their home and regular season finale versus (RV) Hastings (18-10, 8-8 GPAC). The Warriors and the Broncos are slated to tipoff at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday inside the Wikert Event Center in Fremont, Nebraska.
