Youngsters from 11 to 18 can compete in hunting and shooting skills Sunday at the NRA youth hunter education challenge.
The event is being held at Platte River State Park from 8 a.m. to 5. Youth must have successfully completed hunter education to participate.
The challenge is designed to replicate real-life hunting situations and develop camaraderie with other young hunters and seasoned mentors. Prizes from the Nebraska Big Game Conservation Association will be awarded to the top two finishers in six categories. Tree stands, 3-D targets, electronic hearing muffs and backpacks are among the prizes.
The NWTF Bennington chapter is sponsoring a free lifetime hunt permit. T-shirts and lunch will be provided.
